Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Powhatan School Curiosity Unleashed! Capital Campaign?
The Powhatan School Curiosity Unleashed! Campaign is a major fundraising drive to support our plans to integrate our renowned language arts curriculum with engaging, relevant, and challenging S.T.E.M. programs.  Lab instruction, project-based learning and exploration of the outdoors will inspire inquiry, delight and curiosity, and provide students with rich experiences in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Will Powhatan friends and families be asked to give to the Capital Campaign even if we support the Annual Fund?

The overall goal of the Powhatan School Curiosity Unleashed! Capital Campaign is $1.395MM, of which a portion represents our 2015-2016 annual fund goal. We ask supporters to consider a meaningful stretch gift that will enable us to meet our overall objectives for both the campaign and our operating revenue requirements. In 2016-2017, we will return to our annual giving drive.

What will my Powhatan School Curiosity Unleashed! gift support?
Dollars raised from a capital campaign are “gifts to grow by” and will provide funds for major capital investment in Powhatan School. Campaign donations  will transform our Lower and Upper Science Labs into Science and Innovation Labs; build critical structures on the Crocker Conservancy; provide funding for classroom instruction, technology upgrades and infrastructure; and STEM related faculty professional development and provide long-term support for STEM programs through an endowment.
